Year Six Geography Revision List for November 2011

 

Topics you must know for the exam.

 

From Year 6 work:

 

  • Processes of coastal erosion – all 4.
  • Features of coastal erosion – cave , arch, stack, stump.
  • You will have to practice the diagram.
  • Formation of Old Harry . Be prepared to explain in detail (paragraphs) how Old Harry formed.
  • Longshore drift –waves at an angle etc. diagram and explanation required.
  • Waves- constructive, destructive, fetch, swash, backwash
  • Spits - example and formation. Be prepared to explain in detail (paragraphs) how spits form.
  • Coastal defences - types of defence.


From Year 5 work:

 

  • Weathering and erosion – frost shattering, onion skin   weathering, glacial erosion.

 

Global Location: On a world map locate and name some main features, places, mountains, rivers, oceans, countries.

Year 5 Geography Revision, Summer Term 2011

The Year 5s  will do some revision in class.  All questions will be taken from their books and they already know some of the questions that they will be asked.

 

Topics:

1.  Great Britain - countries, capitals, flags, rivers, seas, oceans and islands.

2.  Europe - countries and capitals within Europe - how many do they know?

3.  Weathering  - chemical, freeze thaw, onion skin, biological (Very basic knowledge needed).

4.  Erosion - mainly rivers and a little about sea, wind and glaciers.

5.  Rainforests - layers, food, beefburger connection, deforestation, eco tourism and Yanomamis.
